Last month, the country music world mourned the loss of Richard “Kinky” Friedman, who died in late June at 79. Known for his satirical country band, Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys, he gained,

fame with songs like “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore.” A talented communicator, he also ran for governor in 2006 and sought the Democratic nomination for agriculture commissioner twice. Despite battling Parkinson’s, he continued his musical career, releasing 18 albums, with his final one, Circus of Life, in 2018.
