Matilda Pritchard, an 11-year-old girl known for her kindness and love for the environment, tragically passed away on April 3, 2024, from sudden cardiac arrest due to an undiagnosed heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). Despite having no symptoms,
Matilda died peacefully in her sleep. ARVC is a genetic condition that weakens the heart muscles, and while it can be treated, it often goes undetected.Matilda was passionate about creating a cleaner world and regularly picked up litter in her local park. She even received a Blue Peter green badge for her efforts. To honor her memory, her family created a fundraiser to support environmental causes and raise awareness about ARVC. They aim to raise £42,000 ($53,000) to fund a five-year project, representing the years Matilda would have spent in secondary school. The fundraiser has currently raised 67% of its goal.
